Alex McLellan obtained his PhD on human dendritic cells from the lab of Prof. Derek Hart (University of Otago) and undertook post-doctoral research on DC subsets, antigen presentation and DC apoptosis pathways in Würzburg, Germany (Kaempgen Laboratory). In the last decade, he developed a platform for the study of tumour extracellular vesicles and their role in thrombosis and the immune response. His laboratory is now developing strategies to target solid cancer by targeting genetically-modified T cells and cytokines to the tumour microenvironment.
