Associate Professor Jason Waithman leads the Cancer Immunotherapy Program within the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia. He is an expert in the field of dendritic cell biology and T cell immunity, with extensive experience in conceiving and applying a versatile range of tools for studying immunity to cancer, viral infections and self-tissue. This has resulted in significant practical and conceptual contributions to our understanding of health and disease. These models are now routinely used to facilitate translational outcomes into the clinical pipeline and pathway for potential commercialisation. More recently, this toolkit has been expanded to leverage advanced genomic data science, integrating this capacity across multiple projects focussed on identifying novel therapeutic targets to inform on improved strategies for cancer control within the community.
